Greenhouse regeneration at Giardini Margherita

 

In spring 2021 baustudio was contacted by Illuminazioni to design and coordinate the regeneration of a historic greenhouse in the main park of central Bologna, to host lighting design exhibitions.

The main challenge of the regeneration process was using the reclaimed material that was already on site as a waste of gardening activities and therefore keeping the carbon footprint to a minimum.  

​

Being the main steel structure solid enough, the regeneration design focussed mainly on the vaulted roof and the main façade. These elements have been designed around the available material and completely self-built by the designers themselves.
