Exploring double curved surfaces

Open House Festival London 2018, Rudolf Steiner House

This workshop led by David Tasker focuses on the phenomena of double curved surfaces as living, organic forms.

In a very simple and hands-on way, the workshop starts with some exercises exploring the unfolding of form, from point to line to curve and how this expands into the third dimension.

Using a variety of materials, double curved surfaces are explored both in terms of their abstract geometric characteristics and their inherent form qualities – referencing examples in nature and in particular the bone structure of the human body.
