Charity cardboard gate and portal building contest

Honorable mention for "creativity and beauty"

 

This cardboard vault is the result of a fundraising event held in the main square of the city of Bologna by a local charity helping young students who suffered injures while doing sports. 

The vault is made out of 7x80x1000 mm cardboard stripes, hot glue and synthetic cord. No other materials are allowed and any constraint to the ground is forbidden; the time for construction is limited to 6 hours.

For the 2017 edition, my team and I designed and built a double curvature vault that thanks to its weight and shape is able to stand with a thickness of only 7mm.
